Chair Maker's Inshave / Scorp
The chair maker's inshave is forged from 5160 spring steel, and is designed to carve the saddle of Windsor, and other stick chair seats. The blade is elliptical, with a very shallow sweep in the center section. This gives a smoother finish than a round sweep, minimizing the work of the travisher. The hardwood handles are turned and have copper ferrules. This inshave is the result of years of making, using, testing and consulting with professional chair makers. Based on an antique original in my collection, I believe this to be the most ergonomic inshave available today.
