Spoon Carving Knife Set (left hand)
This spoon carving set includes our long handled, left-hand spoon knife and 3” sloyd knife, with matched handles of extra special woods.
The result of years of experience in wood carving and toolmaking, this spoon knife is just the tool for carving the hollow part of wooden spoons. The blade is plasma cut from O-1 tool steel, forged into a hollow, bent into a variable sweep curve, hardened, tempered, ground, handled and sharpened. The 5" long, double tapered octagonal handle is perfect for a variety of grips.
The sloyd knife sports a blade just shy of 3 1/4" long of O-1 tool steel, with a 26-27 degree flat grind. The blade is slightly wider at the base than my Short Sloyd knife, and the tip is just narrow enough to have great action without being a needle point. The octagonal handle is hand made from hardwood.
The spoon knife comes with a simple leather blade cover, and the sloyd knife comes with a custom belt sheath, both hand-stitched from Wicket & Craig English bridle leather.
